Oh, how hot the desert can be but what a wonderful escape the lakes can be. On this trip, the team took some family from out of town to Lake Havasu. We started off by going west on the I-10 and then turning north onto the 95. Continue on the 95 through Parker. After getting outside of Parker you can go left to the dam or right into Lake Havasu City. We went left to check out the dam. After looking around here at the deepest dam in the world (73% of the dam is under water) we headed back to the 95 where we turned to go into Lake Havasu City. We stopped for dinner at Two Brothers Pizza (a really good place to stop if you aren't in a hurry). Since we left Phoenix late in the afternoon, we stayed the night at a hotel in Lake Havasu City. Before turning in though, we drove across the famous London Bridge, moved piece by piece from London. Early the next morning, we headed out to the Lake to pick up our boat, a 19' ski boat with a ton of toys. Here is a link to the company we rented the boat from. After a short ride to the lake we were launched into the Lake. We spent most of the day cruising around the lake mostly to the south as well as play around with the toys. We passed under the London Bridge a couple of times which, by the way is a no wake zone, so we stayed slow. Throughout the lake, there are a lot of neat things to see including mysterious underwater structures we later were discovered protective cages for the smaller fish, however some looked like boats. Good luck can't always stay with you though, as we headed above the London Bridge we ran into shallow water with tall grass and high reefs. We were forced to stop and pull some seaweed off of our rotor a couple of times. We later had to pay for the damage to the prop. After a great day on the Lake we parked the boat and headed back for Phoenix. We headed down the 95 staying on the road to the 72 and then northeast up the 60 passing through Bouse, Hope and Salome. Finally we took Salome Road to the I-10. This trip definetely requires a overnight in order to make the best of it!
