On a scenic ride through the Coconino National Forest in Flagstaff, pass through Schultz Pass as you wind your way along the trail. We have not been on this trip yet so we do not have pictures or a printable map. However, you can still enjoy this fun and very scenic ride.
Start by taking Highway 180 north a couple of miles north out of Flagstaff. Turn right onto Schultz Pass Road. After a half a mile, the road splits. To the left is Schultz Pass Trail and straight is the Mount Elden Trail. Right where the road splits, there is a nice area for parking. Park here and reset your trip odometer. Begin riding north on the easy, paved road. The pavement ends shortly. Wind through great scenery surrounded with aspens. Mountains surround you as the trail narrows around 3.6 miles. Consider stopping at 4.8 miles where off to the right sits Schultz Tank. Stay straight at 5.2 miles where Elden Springs Road goes right. Consider taking a side trip on this moderate trail. Cross a Forest Service Road 6273 at 5.8 miles. Wind your way through the forest and at 9.9 miles, stay straight. Continuing on, the road passes through less dense forest. Stay to the right at 11.4 miles. Ignore side roads until you arrive at the 13 mile mark, where the trail ends, to the right is Highway 89 and Sunset Crater National Monument and straight is the Lockett Meadow Trail. Consider extending your day by taking this trail or simply return the way you came.
This trail, round trip is 26 miles and should take about 2-3 hours, but may take more time if you add side trips. We have not yet been on this trail yet, so we do not have pictures yet. If you have been on this trail, and would like to share some pictures, please e-mail webmaster@azoffroad.net.
