One thing to know before taking this trail is that you must first either take the Backway to Crown King Trail or ride the Crown King Rd. Trail to Crown King. Once in Crown King, turn onto Main Street. You will cross over a short bridge and then turn right just before entering downtown. Also, make sure to ignore smaller roads which are usually private drives.
Towers Mountain Trail takes you on a beautiful ride through the mountains. Views get better the farther along the trail you go. The trail ends at the Del Pasco Mine but you can extend your trip by following the Gladiator Mine Trail back into Crown King.
To ride Towers Mountain Trail, bear left at 0.1 miles. To the right is the return of the Gladiator Mine Trail loop. Stay to the left at 0.9 miles. Towers Mountain road is usually well marked so it is easy to stay on the trail. Drive through a blind curve at 1.05 miles. Large mirrors have been added to the numerous blind curves along the trail in order to decrease the amounts of accidents. Continue to the right at 1.7 miles. Shortly after this, you should see a sign that says that there are kids at play. Slow down as you pass through this residential area. Continue to the right at 3 miles. Come to a four way at 3.7 miles. Take an optional left on FR. 52C to reach the top of Towers Mountain (where all the towers are). The forest service tower has since closed but great views are still avaliable to the south side. You can actually see Lake Pleasant and Wickenburg from here. Optional straight on FR. 216 dead ends after about 0.3 miles. To continue on the main trail, turn right at this intersection onto Del Pasco – Gladiator Rd. The trail forks, stay to the right past some other communication towers. Shortly after this, the trail splits again, stay left. After following this continue right past an old building (mark that your on the right trail). Trail ends at 4.6 miles near the Del Pasco Mine. Take a left to go see the remnants at the Del Pasco Mine. If you have reached this point, you should continue on with the Gladiator Mine Rd. Trail. However, if you did not make it to the Del Pasco Mine, you should probably return the way you came.
This trail is really fun and offers a lot of good views. It also has a lot of side trips on it. With side trips, this part of the trail can probably take 1-2 hours (one way). If you combine this with the Gladiator Mine Trail, allow a full day (especially if you rode Crown King Trail or the Backway to Crown King Trail). This trail receives heavy snowfall and should not be attempted after a snow. This snow can change the condition of the trail making it impassable.
